Hey everyone,

I've been playing Metin2 since the early days – my first own server ran over Hamachi for a handful of friends. OldEraMT2 is the server I always wanted to play on: classic Metin2 like 2009, developed together with the people who play it. The open beta is running, and honest feedback is welcome, good or bad.

Status

Open beta since 23 September 2026, open to everyone. There is no official launch date yet.
At the official launch the beta will be wiped. Accounts with at least 4 hours of beta playtime get a VIP Card (30 days) and Wind Shoes (one computer counts once).

The concept

Classic up to level 99: 4 classes, 3 kingdoms and the full classic EXP requirement from level 1 to 99.
Rates: base rates 100 % for EXP, drops and Yang, no event rates. Until your first Ascension you farm with a farm factor of 1.5× (monster and quest EXP, ordinary item chances, monster Yang).
Ascension: at level 99 you can go back to level 1 at the Phoenix of Origin, up to three times (10 / 15 / 20 M Yang). You get a seal, a rank, more inventory and storage pages and, after Ascension III, the Royal Armour – but no combat values. Your farm factor drops to 1.333× / 1.167× / 1×.
Drops like 2012: weapons and armour only drop as +0. Level 75 weapons only come from the Grim Reaper's Chest of the Death Reaper, the final boss of the Demon Tower (floor 9, from level 75). Weapons like the Full Moon Sword (level 30) and the Poison Sword (level 75) roll their own Average Damage and Skill Damage, like back then.
Start: everyone begins without a weapon and beats five Wild Dogs bare-handed, then gets the class starter gear.
Clients: two per computer, both can farm.

In game

OldEra Hub (F5): Contacts (F6), Market (F7), Wiki (F8) and Support in one window.
Market: across all channels – buy now, auctions and buy orders. The server keeps items and Yang until you take them out of your Collection box.
Wiki: items, Metins, monsters & bosses and dungeons, each with drop sources.
Support: tickets to the team straight from the game.
Also: weekly PvM and PvP rankings, a lottery, PvP training opponents in all six cities.
Item Shop: VIP Cards and comfort items. VIP gives +50 % EXP, double drop and Yang chance, automatic Yang pickup and 3 storage pages to the character that uses the card. During the beta the shop runs in demo mode, without real-money payments.
