Dear,

We hereby inform you that the partnership between Ongame and Webzen | Ymir Games, creator of Metin 2, will be terminated and will result in the discontinuation of all services related to the game provided by Ongame in Brazil. Some Metin 2 services will be discontinued starting today, August 5, 2024 , while others will remain available until October 31, 2024 .

This difficult decision was made after long discussions and considerations between Ongame and Webzen | Ymir Games, who unfortunately did not reach an agreement for the renewal of the game's publishing license agreement.

We are deeply saddened by the end of services, especially after all these years. We know how much Metin 2 means to all the players who have followed us and actively participated in the community throughout the 17 years the game has been available in Brazil. We recognize the commitment and dedication of many players who have contributed to making Metin 2 a better game, and we express our sincere thanks to all of you.

Starting today, August 5, 2024 , CASH purchases through the Ongame store will be suspended, as well as the activation of Pin Codes for the Metin 2 game. However, any existing CASH balance in the accounts can still be used in the game's Item Mall until the end of services ( 10/31/2024 ).

Other services, such as game operation and support, will continue to operate normally until October 31, 2024, at 11:00 am, when the servers will be shut down and all services related to Metin 2 Brasil will be terminated.

Below is the official schedule for the closure of services:

05/08/2024:

Announcement of closure;

Removal of Ongame Store pages (it will no longer be possible to purchase or activate CASH in Metin 2)*;

*Purchasing and activating Pin Codes will no longer be possible in Metin 2, but if you still have an unused Pin Code, it can be activated in Point Blank or Aika.

From 08/05/2024 to 10/30/2024:

Game operation without sale/activation of CASH.

10/31/2024 at 11:00 am:

Server shutdown (it will no longer be possible to access or remain online in the game);

Removal of the Metin 2 Brasil website and all its functionalities (access, download, item mall, etc.);

End of support for Metin 2 Brazil and removal of related channels on Ongame's Discord.

Today, August 5, 2024 , we will also launch the ' World Boss ' content, the latest project developed for Metin 2 Brazil. In this content, players who deal damage to special Bosses will be included in a ranking, and, according to their position, will acquire coins that can be used to redeem rewards in the Item Mall.

We hoped to release this content under different circumstances and that it could be improved based on player feedback, but we believe it will still bring fun and competitiveness to high-level players who focus on PVM. More details about the content will be released soon.

Once again, we would like to thank everyone for following us during this long period and for all the passion you have shown for the game. Reaching 17 years of publication is a rare feat, and it was only possible thanks to the support and dedication of everyone involved in the project, especially you, our players!

Best regards,
Metin 2 Team - Ongame

I never would have believed it but I guess the end is near.

Webzen via Facebook:

Hello,

Thank you for visiting our page.

We are sorry to hear the news that Metin 2 will be closing down its service in Brazil.

Unfortunately, Webzen is not the direct service operator for the game in Brazil; thus, sadly, we are unable to offer any further support on the subject.

Shall you wish to contact regarding the subject, kindly contact Ongame the official game publisher in Brazil via their official Facebook page or website.

We hope and will work harder to provide better services in the future.

Thank you.

Some statements by officials:

Spoiler

We don't know what it will be like in the future.
However, as the license is held by Webzen, it could re-publish the game or provide it to another publisher in the future (but at the moment, there is no confirmation that this will be done).
However, what we do know is that there will be no migration of the game or data from the Ongame server.

Spoiler

The game data belongs to Webzen.
User data does not, but as described in our privacy policy, we can provide it to the developer if they wish to migrate or transfer the service.
But unfortunately it has been decided that there will be no such transfer/migration.

Spoiler

Unfortunately, with the termination of Ongame's service, the data on the BR server to date will be deleted.

Spoiler

Both decided not to renew, but we can't share these details about the negotiation or the contract (in fact, I don't even have access to this information myself).

Spoiler

Unfortunately, the service is not available forever. All games are subject to this.
We know that many of you have spent a lot of time in the game, created many friendships and so on. We're also very sad about the situation, but there's not much we can do.
If you have recently purchased Cash and haven't used it yet, you can contact Store support to see if a refund is possible. Support will operate as normal until the end of service.

Spoiler

It's not debauchery.
In this case, the promotion wasn't carried out precisely because of the closure situation.
In this case, we hadn't announced it yet because there were still aspects that hadn't been agreed between all the parties.

Spoiler

It didn't make sense for us to start the Cash Prize or create a Big Sale knowing that it might close

Spoiler

With regard to the costumes, in the next few days we will release the possibility of renewing them by some method (coupon, redemption, etc.).

Spoiler

It's not just a question of profit, there are other aspects to renewing the contract, because it's a partnership.

Spoiler

Guys, Webzen is not going to make an announcement about the closure.
Since we're the ones providing the service in Brazil, we're the ones responsible for announcing the closure - which is what was posted.
As I said, what I can tell you is that there will be no migration / transfer of the Metin Br data provided by Ongame.

As for the future, if there will be any plans to create new servers through other publishers, we don't know and we can't say anything.

Spoiler

The thing is, these negotiations and renewals don't always depend solely on profit. As it's a negotiation, there must be various terms on which the companies agree.
We don't know the details either (and even if we did, we wouldn't be able to disclose them either, as they are confidential matters)

Spoiler

About the service and servers, yes. It has already been decided that it will be closed.
We have also been informed that there will be no migration of data from Ongame's servers to another server. They may change their minds about this, but the likelihood is very low.

Spoiler

Question: At least they could negotiate with a private server or any other that has been on the market for a long time and make the migration, that would be the minimum.

Answer: That would be against the law.
The game data is Webzen's property, not ours.
Secondly, we would never put user data in the hands of private servers, which are illegal servers.
Would you really want your data in the hands of someone who is breaking the law?

Spoiler

Player: Don't abandon us.

Answer: It's not a question of abandoning, but we don't have much choice either. =/
If the agreement hasn't been renewed, we have no way of continuing to publish the game.

Spoiler

1 - Just to be clear, I don't know why it wasn't renewed (and even if I did, I couldn't disclose it). But non-renewal doesn't necessarily mean that Webzen simply didn't want to renew. There were probably negotiations between the two parties and they didn't reach an agreement that benefited both.
2 - Regarding new servers, Webzen has the license, so if it wants to, it can publish or pass it on to another publisher to publish in Brazil in the future.
3 - Regarding migration, what we've been told so far is that there won't be any.

Spoiler

Question: Does the database belong to them too?

Answer: If it's feasible for them, there would be no problem getting the data to do the migration (getting the data from the server, etc.).
But if they've decided not to, it's probably not feasible or it's quite complex.

Spoiler

As long as we didn't know about the closure, we carried out our planning as normal.
As soon as we knew, we started preparing. So much so that, as you yourselves noticed, there were actions that would normally have taken place that were not carried out (Big Sale / Cash Prizes / etc).

Spoiler

Guys, contracts are valid.
It's not the first time a contract has been renegotiated.
It's been done since the game was launched in Brazil.
The day the game was announced to close was October 31st. It's not tomorrow.
So you can see how much notice is being given.

We have several plans that had to be changed or canceled because of this.
The World Boss event that we released today was a project that had been in development for some time.

Spoiler

Generally, game data is deleted as soon as the game is unavailable.
Some data, such as logs, is kept for a little longer for legal reasons.

Fuck this is so sad :v. Mali you who know more about it, do you think that in general the official ones will last longer (EN/ES/PL etc), do you think they still have content or have they already reached a point where they don't care and are going to make as much money as possible?

They are run by GF so I don't think anything will happen anytime soon.

Even if it doesn't look like it, they are still making a lot of money so you are on the safe side🤣

With the closure of Ongame, GF may open access to brazil(publishers have blocked bilateral access so that players don't go to other publisher's game) so brazilian players can play on GF's pt servers.

Unfortunately their data will be deleted but it's better than nothing.
