Hello,

 

I would like to know what a server gamecore is(I haven't created a server since profizocker's and mcncc files ) because I see many different( 40250 etc.)

Also,I don't know what binaries and tar.gz(e.g. game.tar.gz and db.tar.gz) do

 

Any help?

A game core is the executable file for the Metin2 server. The numbers are YMIR's version numbers. 2089 is from 2011, 34083 from 2012 and 40k from last year.

 

A tar.gz file is simply a collection of files, Unix's version of zip so to speak.

Ok i've seen that tar.gz files come as "serverfiles" I install them to the newest FreeBSD versions(9+) through FTP?

You have to put them to the right forder (for example, if you have the game folder in your tar, it is worth to put the file to your home folder), then extract it with this command in Putty or VBox:

tar -xf name.tar.gz

Of course, you have to change the name of your compressed file's name. Even so if you put the folders to a wrong folder, you can easily move it to the right place by ftp or the mv command.
