Hello there!

Today I'm here to show you my biggest project so far: a whole new PvP mode: The Prop Hunt!

It’s a team-based game mode where one team consists of Hunters and the other of Props. To win, Props must blend into the map without being discovered by the Hunters, while the Hunters must eliminate all the Props hiding in the map.

Props have two items to help them escape from the Hunters:
- Prop Marble: Allows you to transform into an object present in the map to better blend in.
- Prop Mirror: Makes you invisible for 20 seconds, enabling you to escape from the Hunters. However, be careful: this item can only be used once per match!

How the game mode works:

  1. At the start of the match, the Hunters are teleported to a specific area where they cannot leave, giving the Props time to hide without being seen.
  2. After 1 minute, the Hunters are teleported to the center of the map, where the hunt begins! They have 15 minutes to find and eliminate all hidden Props.
  3. If 15 minutes expire and any Props are still alive, the Props win. Otherwise, if the Hunters eliminate all Props before the timer ends, the Hunters win.

Here’s a video showcasing how the game mode works:

And below are all the changes made to ensure the most enjoyable gameplay experience:

Spoiler
  • If a Prop disconnects, they cannot rejoin the match and will count as eliminated. This prevents abuse (e.g., a Prop disconnecting and rejoining at the end of the game to win). Similarly, Hunters will not be able to disconnect and rejoin.
  • If a crash occurs at the start of the match, reconnecting and rejoining will be allowed.
  • Props are slightly slower than Hunters to ensure that Hunters still have a chance to win if only one is left.
  • All movement buffs (Swiftness, Strong Body, Feather Walk, etc.) are removed at the start of the match.
  • Skills cannot be used during the hunt.
  • Ninjas will not be able to use bows during the hunt.
  • Props will die with a single hit.
  • The Prop Marble can only be used every 5 seconds.
  • The Prop Mirror can only be used once per match.
  • If an entire team disconnects, the other team will automatically win.
  • Players will not be visible on the minimap.
  • The "dust" trail left behind while moving will be hidden if the Prop is invisible (using the Prop Mirror).
  • All buffs and weapon/armor effects (e.g., shining) will be hidden from opponents but still visible to you.
  • Auto-attack is disabled to prevent blindly following a Prop after spotting it the first time.
  • Names, flags (if players are from different empires), and targeting other players will be disabled. Hunters must approach and strike Props with their weapon to discover them.
  • Both teams will receive a notification whenever a Prop is eliminated, showing how many Props remain.
  • Probably more balancing stuff I can't remember right now

As always, please feel free to leave a feedback! 😁

Very interesting, I haven't seen this done before on Metin2, nice work.

Really good! I always wanted to see something like that in Metin2! One small advice would be to turn off every shadow on the map, or at least character shadows and not generate shadowmap, as it would be easy to notice a prop based on the dynamic shadow they cast!

Good job, well done! 😄

You are absolutely right, as you can see in the video i didn't cast a shadow on the real objects for that exact reason and then i forgot to disable players' shadows 😅 thanks for noticing!

Now player's shadow is correctly hidden during prop hunt, thanks again @ Gurgarath:
