there was already a similiar thread in Linux section

You won't compile it on linux until you port network code to epoll or other I/O event notif. mechanism supported by selected distro. The current one, which is kqueue, is *BSD specific.

Never touch a running system.

Simple as that :) Why compiling for linux if freebsd is working stable and fast? It works without any problems, why should someone do all the work porting it when it's already working fine :D

And if you remove IMPROVED_PACKET_ENCRIPTION, it work more fast.
