How to set up a clean Metin2 server – Linux or FreeBSD?

Hi everyone,
I'm looking to set up my own clean Metin2 private server — no custom systems, just a basic, official-like setup. I have a few questions:

Is it possible to run the server on Linux (e.g., Ubuntu Server), or is FreeBSD the only real option? Are there any up-to-date guides or repositories for Linux?

Where can I find truly clean server files and a matching unmodified client?

What are the minimum system requirements for a small, test server (RAM, CPU, etc.)?

Also, is there any complete tutorial covering the whole process — from setting up the server, launching it, to editing things like quests, items, or maps?

Any tips, links, or personal experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Hello, you can run a Metin2 server on Linux but you will be more on your own than on FreeBSD if things go south, so I would say it is based on your skills and confidence.

As for the sources, either go with renowned sellers or go with TMP4 (free and good). The aforementioned topic is based out of them. Most sources and files include a working client with them.

Minimum requirement depends on your needs, but any 15$ dedicated server would do enough for most people and modest servers. As for tutorials, it is pretty much scattered here and there on the platform, but it is usually streamlined.

Yeah I'll recommend to go with FreeBSD, the only OSS Linux version literally has a heads up saying you shouldn't use it in prod
