What files to start with and what should I aware of before opening Metin2 server

tyxqee

Question

Hello everyone,

Last week me and my friends decided that we will open a finnish Metin2 server because not much are available anymore.
While I was always in love with IT, that is not meaning that I'm professional with Metin2 serverside in any way, so I want to ask a couple questions.

  1. What do you advice for the base serverfile and client?
  2. Can we run the server from home, or we have to buy a vps?
  3. x32 or x64 for the OS? I saw serverfiles that was x32 or 64 maybe it is depending on that?
  4. Is it possible to run the webserver from the FreeBSD?
  5. What type of attacks should we aware of?
  6. What well-known exploits should we aware of?

I know it's a lot question, it is okey if you answers to what you know.

My regards,
Tyxqee

Don't use FreeBSD as OS for webserver... Performance and security sucks... For webserver use CentOS, use apache with nginx reverse proxy, otherwise you will face slow website...

It's better to run website on another vps, in case you will be ddosed and you will be ddosed trust me... You will be blackmailed and ddosed by Ch3HP as every server is...

And i agree with DrTurk... Running Metin2 server is like... Bad joke. A lot of bugs, lot of cheaters and don't forget, there is Gameforge. Someone will report your server and Gameforge can sue your ass like nobody else 😄
