My question is simple.

Is it possible to edit the existing skills animations?

I think not. Because you haven't got source file. You can't change base animation but you can change the color of animation.

If you just change the .gr2 & .msa files of a certain animation with another one, yes. If you want to edit for example the wait animation of a certain character you'd need a converter from .gr2 for some kind of animation format or have a program that lets you edit right from the .gr2. And if you want to change it completely as in new name, directory or something I don't know if it's even possible.
