hello guys,

i'm using 'PackMakerLite' made by martysama,

i know that for me to protect the pack files i have to change the keys in both files

the client source and PackMakerLite,

i'v seen that there are multiple types such as: type 0 - 6 ( i don't know how it work or if it's necessary)

my question is will i be safe by only packing normally ? with changing keys ?

Nope, also the keys can always be in memory and read. The only way to be really safe is if stuff would be decrypted on the fly, and even then, someone dedicated enough could even just read the assembly (or just end up in a white room wtih EMPRESS)

So yes, in a way you can say you might be ""safe"", but not necessarily. It's a matter of when, not if. I remember a long time ago, the scene was dedicated both ways on package encryptions, how to block debuggers etc.

Everyone decent enough would had been able to find the changed keys in 2 secs ahah

well, that's kinda sad,

but by changing the keys i can be partially safe because not everyone can read them right?

like you have to be decent enough like you said  to read the memory.

how about cython ?

Oh, you want it to protect root specifically? Then cython is good enough. 3D models, I know most modellers just put the server logo on it.

But even then, as long as every action done from python/client side is validated server side, there should be no risk.

Also, let's just say that the motivation to open a client was different back then. Many more newstyles (so people wanted to protect their 3d stuff) and without source codes, you could then do nefarious stuff with an open client.

Since there's no good way to perfectly protect the pack files, i guess i'll have to just focus on the root at least then,

protecting something better than nothing.

well, thanks anyways for answering.

Yeah, cython is fine (and the keys).

For the rest, remember there have been extracted so many 3d models from every possible other game, so, you know..
