Quest function() problem? not able to do that?

a quick question, i remember that you used to be able to do it like this:

		when. ...
		
		mainmenu()
		
		function mainmenu()
			locale headmenu == select("Page 1","Page 2","Page 3", "Next Page")

				page1()
			elseif headmenu == 2 then
				page2()

			end

Like to make some functions for each pages, to have a "Back"-Button, but it doesnt work anymore?
