Is there any Metin2 Oldschool pserver?

Hello everyone,

After years of inactivity, I’ve started feeling nostalgic for the 2009-2013 era, especially with the arrival of the first Metin2 servers. I’ve always been part of the Spanish-speaking community, so the servers I remember the most are Keta Metin2 and Metin2 Guabina/Persia. The latter is still open under the domain of metin2server, though it has naturally evolved over the years with new content and systems. I still remember how things used to be: server rates ranged from 10% to 25%, and items from the official game’s item shop could be found in city shops. You could upgrade black armor to emperor and the battle sword to the triton sword at the blacksmith in the demon tower, and that was pretty much it. These were simple servers, but they provided the authentic Metin2 experience without the pay-to-win aspect that’s so common in the official version.

I’ve been on the lookout for a server like that, but now it seems everything is filled with "old-school" servers that aren’t really true to the original experience. You log in and are greeted by flashy interfaces, overly elaborate maps, poorly edited 3D models, and so on. Because of this, I wanted to ask if anyone knows of a genuinely old-school server that sticks to the classic style of the 34k ones, where things were done seriously.

I’ve come across Old Metin2, and while it does offer what it promises, it’s still very similar to the official version, which can sometimes be a bit frustrating.

In any case, I’d even be willing to create and maintain a server like this myself. My main concern is security. I’m sure that if such a server were made using older files to capture that original essence, it would be vulnerable to every kind of hacking imaginable.

I played a bit with vdi_4250_2014 posted right here on this forum.

The server currently runs on 64bit, the source needs to be compiled outside of amd64.

Basically, it's a long-standing game experience, the client has 15 languages available, it can be a starting point.

I will open my server in early December.
My target goal is bring back the gold 2009-2011 era.
But with a serious twist, with brand new maps!

The only original maps will be: wedding, ox, duel, the two guild war maps.
The main goal is to simulate the 2009 feeling when everything was new for you, you don't know where the mobs/bosses/metins etc, so you needed to explore the world around you.
The oldschool servers biggest mistake is I think is using the old original maps, because you played n+1 times and you know every trick, every position, where to go when.
There will be no:
-Dragon soul/Alchemy
-Belt
-Pets/Mounts
-Even the menu is oldschool there is no virtual keyboard
-There will be no 6-7 bonuses
-GF drops with pvm/quest based progression system
-3 new nation where the new players arranged randomly when you register in the homepage (invite code system is avaliable to get the same nation with your friends)
-There are no empire specific maps, the first map Yeongdong is the "capital city" where PVP is only allowed in the middle circle, all other maps are commonly used by every empire
-There will be no paid itemshop, the Dragon Coin is only accessible through the alternative drop so it's 100% free
-Passive dragon coin gaining system where you gain 1DC for 10 minutes gameplay time
-And so on

The development by myself was started in 2015.
This video is a bit outdated, but here is some footage from my channel:

Sadly it will be hungarian exclusive, I don't had time to write every new quest in english, but I think this server will shake up the hungarian Metin2 privateserver gaming community.

The project is halted a bit because my personal life and because partially my job. My brother moved to the capital city from countryside so I helped him out with the moving.

My workplace is a bit messy because the extreme summer heat, I work at the hungarian railway company as a manual railroad crossing gate and railroad switch operator and I have a lot of problems with the railroad crossings which are remotely operated (their "brain" gets stupid from the heat and I need to take action remotely to prevent accidents).

Normally if there is no error I can work with the server in my workplace because in one hour maybe one or two trains pass at the station where I work.

I currently applied small fixes like guild mark upload problem resolving, and I work on a special quest where the black wind clan take you as prissoner to a special 1x2 quest exclusive map where you need to break free to get out from there, I'ts a revenge from the black wind clan to the player because you helped a villagers a lot in the prevoius quests.

 

Yes, I want to write more quests currently I have nearly 30 working quests which were made by me.

I planned to open the server at last christmas, and I delayed it to this summer but I think it will be autumn or christmas.
