Hello community,

Let's just start.

PS: Screenshots are in german, sry for that.

First of all, we need to setup a loopbackadapter.

Spoiler

First of all, we open the device manager. There we've to click on "add legacy hardware".

Then we've to go forward as the following screenshots show you.

-> second choice (advanced) -> network adapter -> Microsoft -> Microsoft loopback adapter

If we got that, we've to set it up.

First of all, go to your network adapters. There we'll find the installed loopback adapter.

Then rightclick it -> properties and follow the screenshots.

-> Properties -> External IP with .1 at the end -> 255.255.255.0 -> Ok

Now we've to setup the virtual box and freebsd.

Ex. IP with .1 = External IP with .1 , e.g. 98.23.553.1

Ex. IP = External IP , e.g. 98.23.553.267

Portmaps (or something simlar) is needed too!

All ports need to be setup to the external IP !

At least, we've to setup the Router-Ports to OUR! PC/internal IP, not to the Virtual Box internal IP or something!

Spoiler

I have FRITZ!Box, where it's setup like this :

Now people should be able to connect without getting kicked after char select.

Hello i have few questions

1st lets asume the Ex IP you hid is 192.168.117.1

-on machine settings why did you select Deny?

-do i need a domain to set up

-"NAme server" this is your routers gateway?

-on portmap from where did you get the IP 192.168.117.110    ... is .110 your actual end of your external ip and if so why was needed to put few rows up .1

-fritzbox is your router or? if so is this the only port i need to forward

And so what ip and where to configure in the client ? serverip.cfg?

Thank You So much Dude. This tutorial really helped me alot...

but i was wandering if there is a way to assign the external ip.1 to a dyndns,

because everytime my router restarts i get  a new external ip and that brings the server down.

until i do sysinstall and change the external ip on both the server and the loopback adapter.
